This master’s program is designed for those interested in pursuing an advanced degree who wish to enter a leadership role in their current career. While there is focus on healthcare, this degree is broad enough to apply to multiple fields and industries. Students may select between a Health Care Administration or Public Health Administration track and will be equipped with both the professional and analytical tools to lead organizations through today’s ever-evolving landscape. Instructors of this program use their years of experience and real-world application so students can apply what they learn in school on the job right away. As an online program, students can balance school, work and life while advancing their career.
Students in the M.S. in Organizational Leadership will take courses that focus on management, communication, organizational behavior, managing change, leading diverse teams and more.
The Health Care Administration Specialization Track focuses on emerging issues in health administration and management of patient-centered networks.
The Public Health Specialization Track focuses on social, behavioral and cultural factors in public health and epidemiology.
While this program is 100% online, students still complete a professional capstone project that features real-world application of their coursework to their current career in leadership.
- Applicants to this degree program must have graduated with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited program recognized by the US Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) earning a 2.75 GPA or greater.

Pima Medical Institute’s Master of Science in Organizational Leadership is a fully online, two-year graduate degree program designed for working professionals who want the opportunity to advance into management or executive roles in health care, public health, or related fields. The program offers two specialization tracks: Health Care Administration and Public Health Administration.
What can I do with a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership?
The MSOL prepares you for possible leadership and executive roles across health care, public health, and related industries. Graduates are prepared to pursue positions including health care administrator, health services manager, public health program director, operations or department manager, director of quality improvement, and C-suite and executive leadership roles both within and beyond health care organizations – from across hospitals, health systems, public health agencies, nonprofits, military and government health care organizations, and educational institutions and more.
How is this Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) degree different from an MBA, MHA or MPH?
Each of these degrees may lead to leadership and management roles, but they take different approaches and may specialize in different areas.
- An MBA is a broad business degree covering finance, marketing, operations, and strategy across industries.
- A Master’s in Health Care Administration (MHA) concentrates on health care-specific systems and operations.
- A Master’s in Public Health (MPH) is a health care-specific degree focused on epidemiology, research and community health.
- A Master of Science in Organizational Leadership focuses on leading people, teams, and organizations through change, with an emphasis on communication, ethics, and organizational behavior. While some MSOL degrees maintain a broad focus on leadership, Pima Medical Institute takes a different approach—focusing first on leadership, then applying it to specific health care topics like health care administration or public health administration, ideal for those in or outside of health care who want to develop transferable skills.
What is the difference between the Health Care Administration and Public Health Administration tracks?
The Health Care Administration track is designed for professionals who want to lead within clinical and administrative health care organizations. It focuses on health administration strategy, finance, quality improvement, and the strategic management of patient-centered networks.
The Public Health Administration track is designed for professionals who want to influence health outcomes at a community or systems level. It focuses on epidemiology, health informatics, and the social, behavioral, and cultural factors that shape population health.
Both tracks share the same leadership core curriculum and culminate in the same professional capstone project.
Will my specialization in public health administration or health care administration be included on my diploma?
Your diploma will indicate that you have earned a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. Specializations are intentionally not listed on the diploma. This approach is designed to provide you with maximum flexibility in your professional pursuits—allowing you to pursue opportunities within health care as well as in broader leadership roles across other industries, if you choose.
We encourage graduates to highlight their specialization and relevant coursework on their résumé or CV to showcase their focused expertise and tailored academic experience.
Is the program strictly for health care professionals?
No; while there is a focus on health care, this program offers the flexibility of a broad leadership degree that can be applied in any organization. The first three semesters include coursework focused on developing advanced leadership skill sets, such as evidence-based management and strategic communication. Beginning in the Semester Four, students select a specialized track in health care.
What is the professional capstone project?
The capstone is a graduate-level project completed in your final semester that applies your coursework to a real leadership challenge in your current or target field. It is built around your career rather than a generic case study, making it directly relevant to the work you are doing or the role you are pursuing.
What are the prerequisites for the program?

How long does the program take to complete?
The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership takes two years to complete across six semesters. Individual completion times may vary.

Yes! The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership is designed specifically for working professionals and is delivered entirely online in an asynchronous format, allowing you to balance your coursework with your existing career and personal responsibilities.

State Licensure Determination Disclosure
The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program is offered via an online delivery method. Pima Medical Institute is an approved institution through the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC SARA) which allows Pima Medical Institute Tucson to offer distance learning programs to residents of states other than Arizona. Participation in NC SARA does not exempt an institution from state professional licensing requirements.
A student’s physical location is determined at the time of enrollment by submission of government-issued identification as well as a student attestation of their physical location in the enrollment agreement. Students agree to update the institution if their physical location changes. Students are able to notify the institution of a change to their physical location in the Pima Medical Institute Student Portal. Prospective students and enrolled students should understand that a change in physical location may adversely impact a student’s ability to complete the program. If a student is planning to relocate he or she is required to discuss this with the Student Services Coordinator and/or Program Director.
In compliance with 34 CFR 668.43 Pima Medical Institute has made a reasonable effort to determine graduate eligibility for licensure in all states for programs designed and advertised as leading to licensure. The document below lists Pima Medical Institute programs and states where the curriculum meets licensure requirements, states where the curriculum does not meet licensure requirements, and states in which Pima Medical Institute has been unable to determine if the curriculum meets state licensure requirements. All consumers should be advised that due to the frequent changes to state statutes, rules, and regulations Pima Medical Institute cannot guarantee licensure based on the lists below.
